Open house for Fayette County housing study Sept. 22 in Fayette

UERPC wrapped up a housing study this summer for Fayette County in collaboration with Fayette County Economic Development and Tourism (FCEDT). The goal of this effort was to identify housing needs and gaps to assist local stakeholders in finding solutions to current and future housing challenges. All Fayette County stakeholders, residents, and community leaders are invited to join UERPC and FCEDT for an open house to learn about the completed study. The open house will be on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 5pm-7pm at the Fayette Opera House in Fayette, Iowa. Attendees will have the opportunity to review the study and chat with representatives about how the study was conducted and how to best utilize the analysis for efforts to improve and expand housing in Fayette County communities.

New Homeowner Assistance Pre-Applications Available in Decorah

Decorah homeowners may have a new way to pay for home improvements later this year. The City of Decorah and UERPC are partnering to apply for a Community Development Block Grant that will assist low- to moderate- income homeowners with critical home repairs. UERPC is seeking pre-applications from Decorah homeowners to determine interest in the program. Applicants must own a home in the City of Decorah and income-qualify to participate.  Pre-applications are now available by calling 563-864-7551 or by emailing nthompson@uerpc.org. City of Waukon Awarded Housing Rehabilitation CDBG Funding

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) recently awarded the City of Waukon a Housing Rehabilitation Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in an amount not to exceed $253,000 for the exterior rehabilitation of six homes within the city limits.  This program assists communities with preserving existing housing stock and creating new housing opportunities for the primary benefit of low and moderate income individuals. Eligible housing activities include: Owner occupied housing rehabilitationHomebuyer assistanceUpper story housing conversion Owner occupied rehabilitation is focused on three areas of improvement:  energy efficiency, exterior improvements and the removal of architectural barriers to allow aging in home.  The maximum award amount is $24,999 per unit plus lead hazard reduction and technical services.The Homebuyer assistance program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to low and moderate income homebuyers.
